In summer 2001, Robert Pattinson is Tyler Hawkins, a New York college student still adrift after a family tragedy and his parents’ divorce. When he meets Ally, Emilie de Ravin brings an open, guarded warmth to a young woman carrying her own trauma after witnessing her mother’s death. Their relationship gives Tyler a way out of his anger and grief, but it also pulls him deeper into the fractures around him, including a tense bond with his distant father (Pierce Brosnan) and the unresolved pain shaping both families.
