The Notebook

DramaRomance123 min

At a nursing home, an elderly man reads from a worn notebook to a woman with Alzheimer’s, and the story returns to 1940s Seabrook, North Carolina, where Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamilton fall hard during one summer before class, family pressure, and World War II pull them apart. James Garner carries the present-day frame opposite Gena Rowlands, while Ryan Gosling’s Noah and Rachel McAdams’s Allie give the past its sweep: a youthful romance interrupted, then reopened years later when both have been living very different lives.
