The Tattered Dress

The story

Top New York defense lawyer J.G. Blane heads to Desert View, Nevada, after wealthy Michael Reston’s wife Charleen comes home from a wild night with her dress in rags and a murder case takes shape around the family. Jeff Chandler leads the film alongside Jeanne Crain as Blane finds a desert town already lined up against his client, with the politically powerful Sheriff Hoak controlling the pressure from every side. Courtroom strategy, marital strain, and small-town hostility tighten around the case as Blane starts to see that he hasn’t just taken on a defense — he may have been set up himself.
