Monsieur Beaucaire

ActionAdventureComedyFamilyRomance93 min

At the court of King Louis XV, Bob Hope is Monsieur Beaucaire, a bumbling royal barber whose latest scrape leaves him facing the guillotine before a sudden escape drops him into palace intrigue. Rescued by Patric Knowles's Duc de Chandre, Beaucaire is carried to the Spanish court and passed off as a polished nobleman engaged to the princess of Spain. The disguise opens doors, but it also tangles him in court politics and romance, especially when his eye is still on a maid (Joan Caulfield) rather than the match arranged around him.
