Gene Wilder’s life and career are traced through film clips, home movies, and passages from his audiobook memoir, following the actor from his first collaboration with Mel Brooks in The Producers to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and his on-screen pairing with Richard Pryor in Silver Streak. Wilder’s own voice sits alongside memories from Brooks, Alan Alda, Carol Kane, and others who worked with him or knew him well. The documentary also looks beyond the signature performances to Wilder’s work as a writer and director, and to his later years living with Alzheimer’s disease.
