Tired of her New York routine, a working woman joins a bus tour through the American West and winds up orbiting the rodeo circuit instead. Jean Arthur is the city traveler, amused and unsettled by the rougher pace around her, while John Wayne’s cowboy enters the picture after a chance encounter and starts to eclipse the polished suitors she left behind. The romance moves through bus depots, fairgrounds, and rodeo arenas, with Charles Winninger and Phil Silvers adding comic friction as Arthur’s tourist drifts farther from Manhattan manners and deeper into a world of bucking horses, dust, and show-ring bravado.
