Dog Day Afternoon

CrimeDramaThriller125 min

In Brooklyn, a bank robbery goes wrong almost immediately when Sonny (Al Pacino) and his partner Sal try to hold up a neighborhood branch and end up trapped inside with hostages. As police surround the building and the street fills with spectators, John Cazale’s wary, increasingly strained Sal stays at Sonny’s side while negotiators and reporters turn the standoff into a public spectacle. Based on a true story and directed by Sidney Lumet, the film follows the escalating chaos outside the bank and the pressure building inside as Sonny’s motives begin to come into view.
