Matt, a young glaciologist, looks back on his affair with Lisa while working in the isolation of the South Pole. Kieran O'Brien is Matt; Margo Stilley's Lisa enters his life at a packed show at London’s Brixton Academy, and their months together unfold through sex, brief domestic moments, and return trips to the concert hall. Directed by Michael Winterbottom, the film moves between Antarctic stillness and live performances by bands including Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Franz Ferdinand, Elbow, and Primal Scream, framing the couple’s relationship through music and explicitly filmed intimacy.
