Float
7 min
A father learns that his young son can float, a difference that instantly turns ordinary parenting into a life of secrecy. Afraid of what neighbors, schools, and strangers might do, he keeps the boy indoors, invents ways to hide his ability, and teaches him to stay low and unseen. The child, though, wants the freedom other kids have, and the strain between protection and shame grows inside their home. When the boy’s floating is exposed in public, the family can no longer pass as ordinary. The father is pushed to choose between disappearing from judgment again or facing the world beside his son and letting him be seen.
