As Akeem Joffer prepares to rule Zamunda, he learns he has a son in Queens he never knew about. Eddie Murphy's Akeem heads back to New York with his longtime confidant Semmi, with Arsenio Hall returning at his side, to find streetwise Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler) and bring him into the royal family as a possible heir. The film shifts between palace rituals in Zamunda and the bustle of Queens, pulling in Leslie Jones, Shari Headley, and other familiar faces as Akeem tries to connect two very different worlds.
