Red Dust

ComedyDramaRomance83 min

On a rubber plantation in Cochinchina, owner Dennis Carson is juggling work, heat, and a volatile love life when a woman from Saigon arrives looking for cover. Clark Gable is Carson, all swagger and impatience, while Jean Harlow’s Vantine breezes in wisecracking and already in trouble with the police. Their rough arrangement is unsettled when a new surveyor reaches the plantation with his refined wife, and Carson’s attention shifts toward the elegant newcomer. In the jungle humidity, flirtation, class friction, jealousy, and the constant threat of malaria hang over the camp.
