Kate (Tina Fey), a single executive determined to have a baby, learns she’s infertile and decides to hire a surrogate. Her match is Amy Poehler’s Angie, a working-class South Philly free spirit whose loose approach to life collides with Kate’s tightly organized world. As the two navigate appointments, baby prep, and the practical mess of their arrangement, the film leans into the mismatch between Kate’s control and Angie’s unpredictability. Greg Kinnear and Sigourney Weaver turn up around the edges as Kate’s plans for motherhood become far less orderly than she imagined.
