The Bargee
Comedy102 min
Hemel Pike spends his days hauling cargo along England’s canals and his nights charming women in every town on the route. Harry H. Corbett is the bargee at the center of the trouble, with Eric Sykes’ cousin Ronnie tagging along as his sidekick. When a lock-keeper (Hugh Griffith) learns his daughter is pregnant after being left in Hemel’s care, he refuses to open the locks until the guilty man admits it. The standoff backs up barges in every direction as Hemel tries to dodge marriage-minded girlfriends and an angry father.
