Across several Russian cities on New Year’s Eve, a tangle of strangers, couples, and families scramble to solve personal disasters before midnight. Some need rent money, some are trying to win back an 8-year-old daughter’s trust, and others are chasing love under impossible circumstances — including one man who ends up climbing the city’s main holiday tree in a dragon costume. Ivan Urgant and Sergey Svetlakov are among the familiar faces in an ensemble that jumps from amnesia and parental disapproval to a pop-star crush, an imperiled flight, and a search for a youthful sweetheart decades after the fact.
