Kill the Messenger
CrimeDramaMysteryThriller112 min
Journalist Gary Webb thinks he has a major story when a California drug case points him toward a link between the CIA, Contra rebels in Nicaragua, and cocaine entering U.S. streets. Jeremy Renner is Webb, a hard-driving reporter who keeps pushing as official denials, newsroom resistance, and public attacks close in around him. Rosemarie DeWitt appears alongside him as the pressure spills into his family life. Drawing from Webb’s reporting and the political storm that followed, the film stays close to the mechanics of investigative journalism, where sources, documents, and institutional power all shape what can be published and what happens after.
