When the Catholic Church sends in a sanctioned kill team, James Woods is Jack Crow, a veteran vampire hunter leading raids across the New Mexico desert. After an ambush leaves his crew shattered, Crow and the last man standing beside him, Montoya (Daniel Baldwin), go after Valek, an ancient vampire searching for a relic that could let the undead survive in sunlight. Sheryl Lee enters the pursuit as a woman bitten during the attack, now tied to Valek through a psychic link the hunters can use to track him. John Carpenter frames the whole pursuit as a violent collision of horror, action, and frontier grit.
