Marco is a teacher from Milan who relocates to Palermo and takes a temporary job inside a juvenile detention centre while he waits for a high school post. Michele Placido is Marco, trying to understand a small group of inmates whose stories pull him deeper into the institution: Natale, jailed for murder and taken with the Mafia; Pietro, who keeps ending up behind bars; and Claudio, only 14 and still learning to stand up for himself. Among them is Mery (Alessandra Di Sanzo), a trans sex worker arrested after a fight with a client and now trapped in a male prison.
