A military nurse recovering at an inn from a nervous breakdown starts dreaming about two men trying to kill a third, then wakes to find the intended victim standing in front of her. Nina Foch is the shaken nurse, whose nightmares begin to look less like symptoms than a warning, while Otto Kruger’s federal agent is the stranger she recognizes from the dream. Their meeting pulls her into a fogbound web of pursuit and suspicion, where what she saw in her sleep may be the only clue to what is coming.
