Inspector Cassin, a celebrated Paris detective, heads to a quiet inn in the French countryside for his first real break in years. Steven Geray is Cassin, whose vacation changes when he falls for Micheline Cheirel’s Nanette, the innkeeper’s daughter, even though she’s already promised to a local farmer. After Nanette and her fiancé vanish on the night of their engagement party, Cassin drops back into detective mode, sorting through village gossip, jealousy, and suspicion to figure out what happened. The pastoral setting gives way to a more shadowed, unsettled story as the case closes in around him.
