Yes Minister
Comedy30 min per episode
Newly appointed cabinet minister Jim Hacker enters government expecting to make policy and quickly finds that the civil service has its own ways of slowing, redirecting, or quietly burying his plans. In each episode, a practical issue—a reform proposal, a public relations problem, a foreign visit, a budget fight—turns into a battle over who actually runs the department. Hacker pushes for visible action while his permanent secretary, Sir Humphrey Appleby, answers every direct question with layers of procedure, precedent, and strategic ambiguity. Paul Eddington and Nigel Hawthorne drive the contest as arguments over minor administrative details become deadlocked struggles over power, accountability, and political survival.
