Ray Shoesmith moves through suburban Australia as a hired enforcer, solving other people’s problems with threats, beatings, and sudden violence. The job pays, but it bleeds into everything else: caring for his daughter, helping his terminally ill brother, and trying to keep a steady relationship while never fully explaining where the money comes from. Each episode pushes Ray between ordinary obligations and criminal work that refuses to stay compartmentalized. Small jobs turn messy, arguments become bloodshed, and the rules he uses to separate home from work keep breaking down. Scott Ryan’s Ray is funny, blunt, and increasingly cornered by the life he has built.
