In 1857, a mother and son fleeing their past head into the Utah frontier, where survival means crossing a landscape shaped by violence, suspicion, and competing claims to the land. Betty Gilpin and Taylor Kitsch are among the figures pulled into their path as the two form a makeshift family amid clashes involving Mormon settlers, local communities, and armed men fighting over control. Framed by the Utah War, the series keeps its focus on people trying to reach safety in a place where freedom and brutality sit side by side.
