Dancer in the Dark
CrimeDramaMusical141 min
Selma, a Czech immigrant working in rural Washington state, is losing her sight and racing to save enough money to spare her young son the same fate. Björk is Selma, a factory worker whose private refuge is the world of musicals; Catherine Deneuve's Kathy is the co-worker and friend beside her. As bills mount and her condition worsens, Selma keeps moving through long shifts, rehearsals, and motherhood while imagining songs rising out of factory clatter, train rhythms, and the everyday noise around her.
