Moulin Rouge!

DramaMusicalRomance128 min

In turn-of-the-century Paris, young poet Christian is swept into Montmartre’s bohemian scene and into a secret romance with the Moulin Rouge’s brightest star. Ewan McGregor is Christian, an idealist recruited to help write a new stage spectacle, while Nicole Kidman’s Satine balances desire, ambition, and the demands of the nightclub’s wealthy backers. Baz Luhrmann stages the Belle Époque as a rush of cancan dancers, absinthe haze, velvet, and familiar pop songs reshaped into declarations of love and longing, with artists, aristocrats, and impresarios all circling the same glittering production.
