Bitter Moon

DramaRomanceThriller139 min

On a cruise meant to rekindle a marriage, Hugh Grant’s mild-mannered husband becomes dangerously fixated on the wife of an eccentric paraplegic. Peter Coyote is the caustic stranger in the wheelchair, while Emmanuelle Seigner’s elusive presence gives the couple an immediate, unsettling pull; Kristin Scott Thomas appears as Grant’s increasingly sidelined spouse. Directed by Roman Polanski, the film confines its four leads to a polished holiday setting where flirtation, confession, and resentment keep tightening around each other. What begins as shipboard attraction turns into a far more intimate account of obsession and control.
