Django, a freed slave in the Antebellum South, joins forces with German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz to track wanted men and earn the means to rescue his wife, Broomhilda, from a Mississippi plantation. Jamie Foxx's Django learns Schultz's trade as Christoph Waltz is the courtly, sharp-eyed hunter who buys his freedom. Their search leads to Calvin Candie, the plantation's owner, with Leonardo DiCaprio bringing a polished menace to the role. Quentin Tarantino frames the story as a revenge Western, mixing horseback pursuits, tense negotiations, and sudden bursts of violence.
