Seven Years in Tibet
ActionAdventureDramaWar136 min
Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer heads to the Himalayas in 1939 and winds up a prisoner of war when World War II interrupts the expedition. Brad Pitt is Harrer, whose escape from captivity carries him to Lhasa, where Tibet’s isolation and his friendship with the 14-year-old Dalai Lama begin to strip away his arrogance. David Thewlis appears as the fellow detainee who joins the flight across the mountains, grounding the story in wartime hardship before it opens into Harrer’s years inside a society few outsiders were allowed to see.
