An extraterrestrial arrives on Earth with a mission: get close to widowed scientist Steve Mills and recover the research that could save her planet. Kim Basinger is Celeste, whose elegant, faintly off-kilter attempts to pass as human turn Steve’s household upside down; Dan Aykroyd’s absentminded astrophysicist barely notices that his glamorous new romance comes with telekinesis, strange habits, and a hidden agenda. As Celeste settles into life with Steve and his young daughter, the film mixes fish-out-of-water comedy with slapstick and a distinctly late-1980s sci-fi gloss.
