The Unbelievable Truth

ComedyDramaRomance90 min

Josh Hutton returns to his Long Island hometown after serving time, and nobody can quite agree on what he did or whether the rumors about him are true. Robert John Burke is Josh, a quiet outsider who finds work at a local garage and drifts into the orbit of Adrienne Shelly's Audry Hugo, the owner's restless daughter, who has one foot out the door and Harvard on the horizon. Around them, gossip, suspicion, and awkward courtship ripple through a small-town world of parents, classmates, and half-heard stories, with Josh's past shaping every conversation before anyone knows him.
