The story
When young Jim comes across a map to Treasure Island, he leaves port in a homemade boat with Glan the rat and Bub the baby, only to end up with pirates in pursuit. This 1971 Japanese animated retelling of the Stevenson adventure swaps in an all-animal cast, turning the treasure hunt into a lively mix of sea travel, slapstick trouble, and island peril. Minori Matsushima and Fusako Amachi are among the voices in a story that follows Jim from chance discovery to a dangerous race for the buried loot.
