Princess Arete
ActionAdventureAnimationAnimeDramaFamilyFantasyMystery105 min
Locked in a castle tower by a sorcerer who fears she will steal his eternal life, young Princess Arete spends her days watching a world she’s barely allowed to enter. A friendship with a villager gives her a chance to escape, pushing the story beyond the tower and into a fairy-tale landscape of magic, mystery, and strange creatures. Houko Kuwashima leads the Japanese voice cast, with Tsuyoshi Koyama and Minami Takayama, in an animated story that centers Arete’s curiosity and growing independence as much as the dangers waiting outside the castle walls.
