Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room
Documentary110 min
Enron’s rise and 2001 collapse are traced through archival footage and interviews as the company’s corrupt business practices come into view. Fortune reporter Bethany McLean and writer Peter Elkind help map how the scandal unfolded, alongside former executives, employees, analysts, and public officials. Footage of executives including Jeff Skilling and Kenneth Lay places the company’s leadership at the center of the story, while former California governor Gray Davis appears as the film broadens to Enron’s role in the 2000-01 electricity crisis. The result is a close look at a corporate disaster that spilled into politics, markets, and the lives around it.
