Grizzly Man
Documentary103 min
Werner Herzog assembles a portrait of bear activist Timothy Treadwell, who spent 13 summers living among grizzlies in Alaska’s Katmai National Park, filming the animals up close and speaking to his camera with missionary intensity. Built from Treadwell’s own footage and interviews with friends, park staff, and wildlife experts, the documentary follows his devotion to protecting the bears and the uneasy line between advocacy, performance, and obsession. Amie Huguenard, Treadwell’s girlfriend, also figures into the story of those seasons in the park, as Herzog weighs Treadwell’s self-made image against the unforgiving landscape around him.
