Slacker

ComedyDrama97 min

Over the course of a single day in Austin, the film drifts from one local to the next, following students, drifters, conspiracists, artists, and other misfits as they talk, wander, argue, and chase their own odd fixations. There is no single hero and no central plot to solve. Instead, each scene hands off to someone else nearby, building a loose chain of encounters that turns the city into the story. Richard Linklater appears among the passersby, but the focus stays on the flow of overheard theories, stalled ambitions, and small collisions between people who seem to be making up their lives as they go.
