A Perfect Day
ComedyDramaWar106 min
Somewhere in the Balkans in 1995, a team of aid workers spends a single day trying to solve a deceptively simple problem in a territory scarred by war. Benicio Del Toro is Mambrú, the field leader keeping the mission moving, while Tim Robbins’s B meets each new obstacle with gallows humor and impatience. As locals, retreating fighters, UN forces and layers of bureaucracy keep getting in the way, the job turns into a zigzag through checkpoints, damaged villages and small crises that never stay small. The film balances the grind of relief work with dry comedy, team friction and the absurd obstacles of a war zone that is supposedly at peace.
