Waymon is a rising Manhattan real-estate executive with a steady career, a fiancée, and a relationship that has gone flat. When Joseph C. Phillips’s polished striver becomes infatuated with Natalie (Halle Berry), a downtown club promoter, he turns to his friend Bobby for help looking less square and getting closer to her. Tommy Davidson’s Bobby, a fast-talking mailroom clerk with ambitions of his own, sees Waymon’s dilemma as a chance to move up inside the company. Office politics, class signals, and New York nightlife collide as Bobby gives Waymon a crash course in the city after hours.
