The Kentucky Fried Movie
Comedy83 min
Channel surfing becomes the premise in John Landis’s sketch comedy, which strings together fake newscasts, commercials, and trailers before veering into parodies of kung-fu films, disaster movies, blaxploitation, spy stories, porno films, and TV itself. Donald Sutherland and Bill Bixby turn up among the cameos, while Evan C. Kim leads the film’s centerpiece, a martial-arts spoof opposite Bong Soo Han. The structure keeps jumping from one segment to the next, with recurring gags about what the television is showing and who might be watching from the other side of the screen.
