The Crucible
Drama124 min
In 1692 Salem, a private affair turns public when a group of girls caught in the woods begin accusing neighbors of witchcraft. Daniel Day-Lewis is John Proctor, a married farmer whose history with Abigail Williams (Winona Ryder) puts his household at the center of the growing panic. As accusations spread through the town and the court treats them as proof, Joan Allen’s Elizabeth Proctor becomes one of the names pulled into the frenzy. Drawn from the Salem witch trials, the film follows how desire, religion, and fear harden into persecution.
