Documentary121 min
Bryan Fogel begins by investigating how easy it is for athletes to evade drug testing, using his own body as a case study and seeking guidance from Dr. Grigory Rodchenkov, a Russian scientist tied to his country’s anti-doping program. Their exchanges unfold through Skype calls, urine samples, and awkward hormone injections, but the project shifts as Rodchenkov becomes entangled in allegations surrounding Russia’s Olympic system. With cyclist Dave Zabriskie and international officials circling the story, the film follows Fogel’s increasingly close connection to a man at the center of a widening sports and political scandal.
