After a train carrying atomic warheads crashes in the former Soviet Union, nuclear specialist Dr. Julia Kelly (Nicole Kidman) discovers the wreck is cover for the theft of the weapons themselves. The U.S. pairs her with George Clooney’s Lt. Col. Thomas Devoe, a Special Forces officer whose methods clash with her careful, technical approach, and sends them from Eastern Europe to New York to track the missing bombs before they can be used. Armin Mueller-Stahl and Marcel Iureș appear in a plot shaped by post-Cold War politics, military response, and the threat of nuclear terrorism.
