Act of Violence

DramaThriller82 min

Van Heflin is Frank Enley, a former prisoner of war trying to resume civilian life in his California town, where he’s been welcomed home as a hero. That image starts to crack when fellow survivor Joe Parkson (Robert Ryan) appears, carrying a grudge tied to something Frank did during the war and intent on making him answer for it. As Frank’s past closes in, the film turns a postwar homecoming into a tense chase through guilt, memory, and revenge, with the shadow of the prison camp hanging over every encounter.
