The Luckiest Man in America
Comedy91 min
In 1984, an out-of-work ice-cream truck driver steps onto Press Your Luck with a plan: he has memorized the game board’s patterns and knows how to stop the flashing lights on the big prizes. At first, Michael Larson’s streak looks like impossible good fortune. As his winnings climb to record levels, the studio starts to suspect that luck has nothing to do with it. Behind the bright set and cheerful banter, producers scramble to figure out whether he has found a loophole they can stop without blowing up the show on live television. Paul Walter Hauser stars in this semi-fictionalized retelling of a game-show run that turns into a tense standoff.
