Deloris Van Cartier is back in the habit, returning as Sister Mary Clarence to help save a struggling Catholic school from closure. Whoopi Goldberg drops Deloris into a classroom full of skeptical teenagers, where turning an unruly music class into a choir means winning over students who would rather be anywhere else. Maggie Smith’s Mother Superior and Kathy Najimy’s Sister Mary Patrick once again pull her into convent business, while the student ensemble — including a young Lauryn Hill — keeps the story centered on the push and pull between strict school rules and a room full of strong personalities.
