While You Were Sleeping
ComedyDramaRomance103 min
Lucy, a lonely Chicago transit worker, saves a commuter from the tracks and winds up at his hospital bedside when his family mistakes her for his fiancée. Sandra Bullock is Lucy, who doesn’t correct them as Peter (Peter Gallagher) remains in a coma and his loud, affectionate relatives pull her into birthdays, dinners, and wedding talk. The lie gets harder to keep up once Peter’s brother Jack arrives. Bill Pullman brings a wary edge to Jack, who isn’t convinced Lucy is who everyone thinks she is, even as she finds herself drawn to the family he sees more clearly than anyone else.
