Carl Fredricksen has spent his life dreaming of adventure, and at 78 he finally lifts his house into the sky with thousands of balloons, aiming for South America and a promise he made to his late wife. Edward Asner is the stubborn widower at the center of the story, with Jordan Nagai's Russell tagging along as an earnest 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer who wasn’t meant to be on the trip. Their airborne getaway turns into a trek through remote wilderness, where Carl and Russell cross paths with a talkative dog, a rare bird, and the explorer Carl grew up idolizing.
