As World War II approaches, English aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley arrives in northern Australia to take control of a vast cattle ranch and runs straight into a plot to strip it from her. Nicole Kidman is Sarah, forced into an uneasy partnership with Hugh Jackman’s Drover, a seasoned stockman who helps her move 2,000 head of cattle across punishing outback country toward Darwin. Baz Luhrmann folds romance and frontier conflict into a story shaped by class tensions, anti-Aboriginal racism, and the war pushing ever closer to the north coast.
