Charlotte Rampling is Sarah Morton, a successful British mystery novelist who leaves London for her publisher’s summer house in southern France, hoping the quiet will unlock her next book. The retreat is interrupted by Julie, the publisher’s daughter, whose late-night arrival turns the villa into a tense shared space; Ludivine Sagnier gives Julie a reckless, sexually charged presence that cuts against Sarah’s cool reserve. As the two women watch and provoke each other, Sarah’s writing life starts to merge with what may be a crime unfolding around her, blurring observation, invention, and murder in the heat of the French countryside.
