Starred Up
CrimeDramaThriller106 min
Transferred early from a young offenders’ institution into an adult prison, 19-year-old Eric (Jack O’Connell) arrives angry, impulsive, and ready to fight anyone who tests him. Inside he finds his estranged father, Ben Mendelsohn’s Nev, a veteran inmate whose presence complicates every alliance and every threat. Eric quickly makes enemies among officers and prisoners alike, while a volunteer therapist (Rupert Friend) tries to pull him into group sessions meant to channel his rage. Between prison politics, corruption, and a father-son bond built on years of damage, Eric is forced to learn the rules of a place designed to break him.
