An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn
Comedy86 min
Eric Idle is Alan Smithee, a filmmaker saddled with the industry’s disowned-project pseudonym and pushed into directing a big-budget action movie he can’t stand. His response is to steal the negatives and go on the run, sending everyone connected to the production into a panic. Framed as a mockumentary, the film turns that chase into a pointed Hollywood satire, bouncing between behind-the-scenes chaos and media circus. Ryan O’Neal and Coolio are among the many recognizable faces circling the fallout as the production unravels around the missing reels.
