Alyson Hannigan is Julia Jones, a hopeless romantic who thinks she’s finally found her match in Adam Campbell’s very British Grant Funkyerdoder. Their courtship quickly turns into a spoof of 2000s rom-com formulas, with family clashes, makeover gags, wedding chaos, and a jealous best-friend complication in the form of Andy (Sophie Monk). The movie piles on slapstick and reference-heavy jokes drawn from films like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Meet the Parents, and Hitch, turning Julia’s path to marriage into a string of parody set pieces.
